Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, says the current administration of President Muhammadu Buhari has achieved more than previous governments in terms of infrastructure development.
Mohammed noted that the commitment of Buhari’s government to the construction of roads, bridges, rail, water dams and sea ports was unprecedented.
“No administration in the history of Nigeria has done this much, especially at a time of scarcity of resources,” he said.
Addressing journalists, the minister also revealed that the new terminal can process 14 million passengers per annum.
He explained that it was not built to replace Terminal One but to complement it, adding that it led to the creation of 10,000 direct and indirect job opportunities.
According to Mohammed, the edifice which has been replicated in Abuja, Port-Harcourt, Enugu and Kano airports, is a testament to the achievements of Buhari’s administration in infrastructure development.
While appraising the facilities and fittings in the terminal, he said it was a whole new experience, especially in terms of aesthetics, comfort, free trolley services, hotel and premium lounges, friendly customer services and free wifi.
“I must confess it was an exhilarating experience comparable to what obtains anywhere in the world,’’ Mohammed added.
Peoples Gazette reports that the new terminal has 60 check-in counters and seven passenger boarding bridges.
There are eight security screening points, a fully automated security control room with CCTV and eye-based lie detector machine.
